Last weekend, escaping spring break chaos, we found ourselves in Atlanta, ready to catch an Atlanta United FC home game. For anyone who knows us, a good coffee shop is non-negotiable on any trip. Our quest for quality caffeine led us straight to The Dancing Goats Coffee Bar at Ponce City Market, conveniently located en route to the stadium. The promise of excellent coffee was immediately apparent – a welcome change from the disappointing hotel brew and our usual avoidance of ubiquitous chain coffee shops.
The Dancing Goats Coffee Bar immediately impressed us with its inviting, dog-friendly outdoor patio. Comfortable seating and a lively atmosphere made it clear we had found a local gem. While our own dogs were not with us (stadium rules, and perhaps the game noise wouldn’t be their scene), our family thoroughly enjoyed observing and admiring the canine companions of other patrons. This patio is a definite draw for dog lovers and people watchers alike.
Our group sampled a variety of beverages and some tempting pastries. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces were buzzing with activity – friends catching up, families enjoying a weekend outing, and even a few informal business meetings taking place amidst the cheerful ambiance. Intrigued by the delicious coffee, I was curious to learn more about the source behind Dancing Goats’ exceptional brew.
The cups at Dancing Goats proudly display the name “Batdorf and Bronson.” Initially, it sounded like an elegant china pattern, but it turns out to be the name of the dedicated roasters who operate three coffee shops in Atlanta and five additional sister locations in Olympia, WA. According to their website, Batdorf and Bronson began with a couple’s deep passion for exceptional coffee, starting with a shop in Washington. This passion grew, leading them to acquire a specialty coffee roaster and expand their operation. Today, they roast and distribute their coffee from their two current locations, ensuring the quality and freshness that Dancing Goats customers appreciate.
