Hot Ballroom Action at La Classique Du Quebec: A Classical Dance Spectacle

Despite the freezing weather outside, the ballroom at La Classique Du Quebec in Montreal was ablaze with energy and excitement. Organized by Meryem Pearson and Daniel Heroux, this event is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, stunning lighting, fantastic sound system, and beautiful floral decorations, creating the perfect setting for passionate classical dance performances.

The competition weekend kicked off with the Pro-Am Smooth division, followed by captivating amateur dancing. Unlike many competitions that save the professional showcases for the grand finale, La Classique Du Quebec started with a bang, featuring a spectacular five-dance show by the renowned Sergey Surkov and Melia right at the beginning of the evening session.

One of the most noticeable trends at this year’s event was the significant growth of Pro-Am classical dance in Canada. Friday continued with the Rhythm division for the Pro-Am dancers, and the evening culminated in the Amateur Latin Championship. With 27 couples competing, the judging was remarkably consistent, and the results were clear-cut:
