Are you ready to elevate your swing dance skills and move beyond the basics? Our Lindy Hop Level 3 Swing Dance Classes are designed for dancers like you who are eager to delve deeper into the art of partnered swing dancing. This isn’t just about learning new steps; it’s about transforming your dance into a dynamic conversation with your partner and the music.
In these intermediate swing dance classes, we assume you’ve already mastered the fundamentals of Lindy Hop in our Lindy 2 course, and likely completed it a couple of times. To ensure the best learning environment for everyone, entry into Lindy 3 is by instructor permission, guaranteeing a class full of dancers ready to push their boundaries.
What to Expect in Lindy 3 Swing Dance Classes
While we will indeed expand your repertoire with exciting new moves and vocabulary, the core of Lindy 3 lies in refining your partnering skills and understanding dance structure. You’ll learn how to seamlessly transition between steps, combine movements in creative ways, and start developing your own unique style on the dance floor.
A significant emphasis will be placed on musicality and connection. We’ll teach you how to “cook and chill” – adapting your dance to different musical styles and communicating varying levels of intensity to your partner. This is where swing dance truly evolves into a captivating dialogue, a back-and-forth of rhythm, energy, and improvisation.
Just like our Lindy 2 classes, Lindy 3 is packed with material designed to challenge and inspire you. To truly absorb and integrate these advanced concepts, consistent practice outside of class is highly recommended. The more you practice, the more naturally these techniques will become ingrained in your dancing.
Special Session: Lindy Hop Recital on April 9th
This session of Lindy Hop classes culminates in a much-anticipated student recital on Wednesday, April 9th! Both our Lindy 2 and Lindy 3 classes will be preparing choreography to perform together as a group. While learning new moves and refining technique remains important, a significant portion of our focus will shift towards teamwork and polishing our performance as a cohesive unit.
The recital is a highlight for both students and teachers alike. It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience performing in a supportive environment and showcase your newfound skills to friends and family. Think of it as a fun, adult version of a school recital – we take the learning seriously, but ourselves a little less so. It’s all about enjoying the process and celebrating our shared love for swing dance.
Recital Date: Wednesday, April 9th, with two show times to ensure everyone gets a chance to shine. We may also add a performance on Monday, April 7th or Tuesday, April 8th depending on class sizes.
Class Schedule and Registration
Class Dates: Wednesdays, February 26th – April 2nd, 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM, led by Hannah and Jon.
Potential Extra Rehearsal Times (Optional): Sunday, April 6th, and potentially Mondays, April 7th (if an extra recital isn’t needed), plus periodic Sundays from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM throughout the session.
Please note: Recital sessions are known for being a bit chaotic, and this year will likely be no different! Embrace the fun, encourage your fellow dancers, and remember not to take it all too seriously. A positive and collaborative attitude is key to making this a memorable experience for everyone.
Our swing dance classes have a limit of around 50 students. If the class is full, please email [email protected] to join the waitlist. We may be able to open additional classes if there’s enough demand!
