Dancers who supplement their training with another upper-level technique class, such as ballet or dance theatre, will experience accelerated progress.

Jazz 3 – 4: For dancers progressing from Jazz 2 or Ballet 2, Jazz 3 continues to refine jazz skills with a strong emphasis on building strength and flexibility. Enrollment in Jazz 3 at Shoreline Dance Academy requires students to also attend another technique class weekly for physical conditioning and injury prevention. Acceptable supplementary classes include Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, or Troupe, ensuring well-rounded dance training.

Ballet 2: Ballet 2 is a 75-minute class for students aged 11 and older who have previous ballet experience. Students enrolled in Ballet 3 – 4 at Shoreline Dance Academy are required to attend an additional technique class per week to support their physical development and safety. Pre-Pointe and Pointe: Our introductory Pre-Pointe class is designed as a supplementary class to be taken alongside Ballet 2, 3, or 4. This class at Shoreline Dance Academy is tailored for older, experienced dance students committed to developing the necessary strength, technique, and injury prevention practices for pointe work. The curriculum focuses on foot and ankle strength, flexibility, and the specific movement technique required for successful pointe work. The class is conducted in traditional ballet slippers, and students will be recommended for pointe shoes individually by the instructor, typically after at least one year of pre-pointe training. Returning Pointe students will continue to be challenged and have their technique expanded upon.

Prior to considering Pointe work at Shoreline Dance Academy, dancers are advised to consult with a physician to assess foot structure, strength, and development to ensure readiness for the demands of pointe technique.

Tap 2: For students advancing from Tap 1A, Tap 2 is an introduction to intermediate/advanced tap technique with a focus on rhythm and musicality. It is highly beneficial when combined with Ballet, Jazz, or Dance Theatre for a comprehensive dance education.
