Middle School Dances: A Fun and Safe Social Event for 6th-8th Graders

At McKinleyville Middle School Dances, we prioritize creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees. It’s the perfect opportunity for middle school students to experience the excitement of a dance in a controlled and age-appropriate setting. Forget about the typical teenage hangouts – here, it’s all about good clean fun, energetic music, and making memories with friends.

These middle school dances are more than just a chance to dance; they are a vital part of the community experience for young teens in McKinleyville. Organized with the support of local school PTOs, these events help foster a sense of belonging and provide a safe space for students to express themselves and build social skills outside of the classroom.

Mark your calendars for these exciting dates! McKinleyville Middle School Dances will be held on the following Fridays:

  • Friday, December 6, 2024
  • Friday, February 7, 2025
  • Friday, April 18, 2025

Each dance will take place from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm, giving students a solid 2.5 hours of dancing and socializing.

Location

All dances will be held at the McKinleyville Activity Center, located at 1705 Gwin Rd. This central and accessible location makes it easy for students and parents alike.

Tickets: Secure Your Spot!

Due to the popularity of these events and to ensure a comfortable and safe environment, ticket sales are limited to only 300 tickets per dance. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door, so pre-purchase is essential!

Ticket Prices:

  • Pre-sale (3 to 2 weeks before each dance): $12.00
  • Pre-sale (Week of dance): $15.00

You can purchase tickets in person at the Parks & Rec Office at 1656 Sutter Rd., or conveniently online via Online Tickets. Please note that online ticket sales will end at noon on the day of each dance or when tickets sell out, whichever comes first. Don’t wait – get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

Who Can Attend?

These dances are exclusively for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. To ensure age appropriateness and safety, student IDs are required for entry.

Student ID Requirement

To streamline entry and ensure only middle school students attend, a valid student ID is required for admission. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • This year’s or last year’s school photo ID
  • A progress report from this year or last year
  • Your class schedule (must include your name and grade)

Having a Student ID ready significantly speeds up the entry process, giving students more time on the dance floor! While some schools provide student lists as a backup, bringing an ID is the most reliable way to ensure quick entry. Students without IDs will be directed to a separate line, potentially delaying their entry.

Concessions: Support Local PTOs!

Feeling hungry or thirsty after hitting the dance floor? Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the evening! And the best part? 100% of concession sales go directly to the PTO hosting the concessions. So, you can enjoy tasty treats and support your local schools at the same time!

Dance Code of Conduct: Ensuring a Positive Experience

To maintain a respectful and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone, a Dance Code of Conduct must be on file for each student for the school year. Please ensure your student has a legible dance contract on file or bring one with you. You can access the Code of Conduct 24-25.pdf online to review and print. Having both your Student ID and Dance Contract ready will help ensure a smooth and quick entry into the dance.

Drop Off & Pick Up Traffic Flow

For the safety and convenience of all attendees and parents, we have a designated Drop Off & Pick Up Traffic Map. Please use the East Pierson Park Parking Lot, entering via Gwin Road for Drop Off and Pick Up, and exiting via Pickett Road. Following this traffic flow will help minimize congestion and ensure everyone’s safety.

Get ready for a fantastic night of music, dancing, and fun at McKinleyville Middle School Dances! Don’t forget to purchase your tickets in advance and come prepared with your Student ID and Dance Code of Conduct. We look forward to seeing you there!
