Hey Dance Moms fans! If you’re wondering How Many Seasons Of Dance Moms captivated audiences with drama, dance, and the unforgettable Abby Lee Miller, you’re in the right place. And speaking of being there, let me tell you about the time I got to see the filming of Season 7!

Like many of you, my Dance Moms obsession started way before my amazing day in Phoenix. Back in 2014, when I was still in the UK, I attended an Abby Lee Dance Company masterclass in London. It was a dream come true! Getting to see Abby Lee Miller in person and even snap a photo with her was surreal. Little did I know, that was just a taste of my Dance Moms adventures.

Meeting Abby Lee Miller in London in 2014, a dream for any Dance Moms enthusiast.

Fast forward to October 2016, I was studying abroad in the US and discovered that the Dance Moms cast would be filming in Phoenix. Phoenix! I knew I couldn’t miss this opportunity. My friend Rosa and I planned a day trip, setting off early in the morning, fueled by pure excitement. As we drove towards the dance school, we actually saw them filming! We even managed to get some amazing close-up shots from the car. My inner fangirl was in overdrive! Knowing I was so close to the girls and their moms was absolutely incredible.

The episode being filmed that day was for Season 7, Episode 8. The anticipation of maybe, just maybe, appearing on an episode of Dance Moms, a show that already had 7 incredible seasons under its belt, was electric! And let me tell you, Abby Lee Miller in person is something else. Despite her on-screen persona, she was surprisingly kind and engaging with everyone there. Seeing her do a Suzy Q was a truly iconic moment!

I even got to meet Jill Vertes! She was so lovely and even complimented my dress. It was the perfect fan moment. The actual dance competition was fascinating. It was a real competition with dozens of amazing young dancers, not just the Dance Moms girls. It really highlighted the competitive dance world that Dance Moms, across its many seasons, brought into the spotlight.

My amazing seat at the dance competition, right in the heart of the Dance Moms action.

I was seated near Kira Girard and Ashlee Rumfallo, and Abby was just a couple of rows ahead. Being in the same room as these Dance Moms figures, after watching them for so many seasons, was surreal. It really brought my American experience to another level. And it was Halloween, so Abby was even handing out candy!

The Dance Moms girls performed twice for each routine – once for the actual competition and then again purely for the cameras. It was fascinating to see how the filming process worked. During the event, the Dance Moms team performed some incredible routines. Here are some highlights from the competition that day, which took place during the filming of Season 7, adding to the already rich history of Dance Moms seasons:

  • Kendall Vertes’ solo, “DOA,” won 1st place in the teen category.
  • Mini solos by Liliana and Eliana took 1st and 2nd place in the petite category, with Liliana earning the highest score of the day.
  • The group dance, “Six Feet Under,” placed 1st in the group category.

Seeing these dances live was breathtaking and truly showed the dedication and talent that makes Dance Moms such a compelling show, season after season.

Overall, witnessing the filming of Dance Moms was an unforgettable experience for a long-time fan like me. From seeing Abby Lee Miller tap dance to meeting the moms and watching the girls perform, it was a day filled with excitement and behind-the-scenes insights into the show we all love. And knowing that all of this happened during the filming of Season 7, part of the incredible legacy of 8 seasons of Dance Moms, makes it even more special. If you ever get the chance to see a Dance Moms event, don’t miss it! You’ll get a glimpse into the world of competitive dance and the reality TV phenomenon that has captivated audiences for so many seasons.
