How Your Fish Fry and Firefighter Dance Tickets Make a Difference
The funds raised through events like the annual Fish Fry and Firefighter Dance are not just about community fun; they are a lifeline for equipping our department with essential tools. Over the years, the proceeds have directly funded a wide array of crucial equipment upgrades for the Mound Fire Department, enhancing our operational capabilities and safety.
A prime example of this impact is the purchase of two state-of-the-art Scott Eagle Attack Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs), each costing $6,100. These TICs represent a significant advancement in safety technology available to our firefighters. A Thermal Imaging Camera is an indispensable tool in modern firefighting, serving multiple critical functions. Primarily, TICs are vital for search and rescue operations, allowing firefighters to locate individuals even in dense smoke by detecting temperature differences. When investigating potential fires, TICs can pinpoint “hot spots” within structures or behind walls, providing crucial early warning information. Furthermore, these cameras offer valuable insights into the residual heat in a structure after a fire, ensuring firefighter safety during overhaul operations.
This vital purchase was made possible largely through the proceeds from the 2013 Fish Fry and firefighter dance, which contributed 75% of the funding, supplemented by a generous donation from the MFD Auxiliary. This demonstrates the direct link between community events like the firefighter dance and tangible improvements in our department’s resources and capabilities.
Your continued support of the Mound Fire Department, through events like the Fish Fry and firefighter dance, directly translates to a safer and more effective fire service for our entire community.
