Do You Do You Do You Wanna Dance? The Boogie Anthem Re-Released!

King Sporty & The Ex Tras are back, and they’re bringing the boogie! Emotional Rescue has just dropped the third release in their King Sporty & The Ex Tras series, and it’s a certified dance floor gem: the official reissue of the legendary “Do You Wanna Dance?”. This cult classic is making its grand return, fully remastered and packing not just the vocal version, but also the instrumental and a fresh Discomix courtesy of acid-disco maestro Felix Dickinson.

Originally unleashed hot on the heels of their album “Extra Funky,” “Do You Wanna Dance?” signaled a bold evolution for the band. They were stepping away from pure disco and diving headfirst into the electrifying electro-boogie sound that was igniting dance floors worldwide. The track is instantly recognizable for its punchy electro drums, that signature Sporty slap bass, and of course, those iconic guitar chops. But the secret weapon? A swampy synth arpeggio that oozes pure electric funk, all punctuated by energetic hip-hop-style shout-outs that lock you into the groove.

For those who prefer a less vocal-heavy experience, the reissue includes the original instrumental dub. This version strips back the vocals and lets that infectious rhythm truly take center stage, perfect for letting loose on the dance floor.

Felix Dickinson’s Discomix is the cherry on top. “Do You Wanna Dance?” has history with Dickinson, having appeared on his “Originals” compilation for Claremont 56 back in 2011. So, when this reissue project materialized, he was the only choice for the remix treatment. With a legendary DJ career and a string of influential labels under his belt (Recycled Records, Fools Gold, Urban Myth, Bastedos, and Cynic Recordings), Dickinson’s remix is exactly what this track deserves.

His Discomix is a masterclass in tension and release. Dickinson expertly teases out the track, skillfully switching between versions and building hypnotic interplay between the vocals, guitar, bass, and those mesmerizing electro-glide synths. His dubwise touches add a tripped-out dimension, making the question “Do You Wanna Dance?” utterly rhetorical. Resistance is futile – your mind and feet will move, whether you want them to or not.
