This set feels like a wonderful addition to the LEGO Botanical Collection – perhaps we could call it the LEGO® Icons Botanical Collection 76297 Space Tree Being? It certainly has that organic, displayable quality.
Exploring the New LEGO Parts in Dancing Groot
While the part count might not be the headline, LEGO Dancing Groot introduces some exciting elements, particularly in recolors and a unique printed piece.
Exclusive Recolor LEGO Pieces
A variety of LEGO elements in new colors for the Dancing Groot set, showcasing exclusive recolors.
I am Groot. Even in new colors, he’s instantly recognizable!
Unique Printed LEGO Piece for Groot’s Face
- 1x Slope Curved 3 x 4 x 2/3 Triple Curved with new print in Sand Yellow/ Dark Tan (6488073 | 93604pr)
This printed slope is the key to Groot’s expressive face, capturing his innocent and endearing look perfectly.

Minimalist Sticker Sheet
The sticker sheet is surprisingly small, and honestly, many feel optional. I opted only for the “I am Groot” plaque, which adds a nice touch of branding and character identification.
Building the Dancing Groot LEGO Set
The build itself is refreshingly straightforward, centered around a simple yet effective mechanism that brings Groot to life.
Familiar LEGO building techniques are employed to create Groot’s pot. While not perfectly circular, the elliptical shape is subtle and doesn’t detract from the overall aesthetic.
Assembling Groot’s torso sections might feel a tad delicate initially, but once connected to the pot and secured with Technic links, the structure becomes surprisingly sturdy.
The pot’s robust design keeps the center of gravity low, ensuring stability even when the dancing mechanism is in motion. No wobbling worries here!
The arms, with their organic, twig-like design, add to Groot’s character. It’s like a cute, space-tree Terminator arm!
While Groot might be a character of few words, his LEGO head is full of clever design. The upside-down mudguard used for his smile is particularly inspired!
At this point, Dancing Groot is essentially complete, a charming display piece on its own. But the fun doesn’t stop there!
The included accessories – headphones and sunglasses – are fantastic additions, allowing for customization and posing. Extra foliage and alternate name plaques further enhance the display options. A secret compartment is even included to store spare foliage and plaques when not in use.
How will you choose to display your Dancing Groot?
Dancing Groot in Action: Video Demonstration
The simple mechanism might seem basic, but the resulting dancing motion is pure magic! I can easily imagine him grooving to The Foundations’ Build me up Buttercup, but maybe that’s just my musical taste!

Final Thoughts on the LEGO Dancing Groot Set
Oh boy, is he ever cute!
While the LEGO 76297 Dancing Groot set may not be overflowing with unique parts, when you fall in love with a model like this, it hardly matters. The overwhelming level of cuteness is simply captivating.
This set perfectly captures the endearing qualities of baby Groot, particularly referencing that iconic dancing scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer. Translating that charm into LEGO form is a true art, and LEGO has succeeded admirably.
The set also offers great value. The RRP aligns well with the piece count, adhering to the common (though not always reliable) guideline of 10 cents per piece. There’s so much to appreciate in this set, and like Baby Bumpy from the LEGO® Jurassic World Chaos Theory theme, I wholeheartedly recommend adding LEGO Dancing Groot to your collection.
Finally, to conclude, and echoing Groot himself… I am Groot.
