Step into the heart of Arkansas and experience the thrill of authentic country entertainment at Betty’s Big Country Dancehall. As a dedicated seeker of live performances, I’ve witnessed countless shows, but nothing quite compares to the raw energy and communal spirit found in a true Country Dance Hall. When I heard whispers of Betty’s Big Country Dancehall in Caddo Valley, near Arkadelphia, boasting the largest dance floor in Arkansas – a staggering 80 feet by 180 feet – I knew I had to see it for myself.
And let me tell you, the reality surpassed all expectations. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was captivated by the sheer scale and welcoming atmosphere of this incredible venue. It wasn’t long before I struck up a conversation with the owners, James and Michele Hall, and their passion for Betty’s was infectious. We instantly connected over our shared love for community and great entertainment.

The building itself has a fascinating history. Originally constructed in the 1980s as the Crystal Palace Skating Rink, it was James Hall’s parents who had the vision to transform it into a country dance hall when the roller skating craze began to fade. “My parents thought, ‘Okay, what’s next?’ And decided on a dance hall,” James explained. He shared fond memories of their previous venture, “Back when they lived in Texas, they ran the Yellow Rose in Corpus Christi, Texas, which was our family’s version of the legendary Gilly’s.”
Betty’s Big Country Dancehall flourished for years, becoming a beloved local hotspot. However, like many venues, the arrival of COVID-19 brought unforeseen challenges, forcing a temporary closure. When the world began to reopen, James’s parents decided to retire, leaving the future of the dance hall uncertain.
“Michele and I were living in Las Vegas when we heard the news. We made a quick decision to come back to Arkansas and try to bring Betty’s back to life,” James Hall recounted. Since obtaining the full bar and restaurant license in February 2022, James and Michele have poured their hearts into revitalizing the dance hall. “We’ve been focused on growing, expanding, and improving everything. Our goal is to bring the best local Arkansas bands, and even some great Texas bands, to give people in this area a place where families can come together, have a fantastic time, enjoy good food and drinks, play some pool, and listen to incredible live music.”
Betty’s Big Country Dancehall truly caters to everyone, with doors open Wednesday through Sunday and a diverse schedule of events. “We didn’t just want another bar,” James emphasized. “We wanted to create a space where families could spend quality time together, creating lasting memories.”
