Balance Dance Studios: Expressing Joy Through Movement

For Miss Paula, nothing rivals the joy of teaching dance to young children. It’s more than a profession; it’s a deeply felt passion, a cherished gift, and a true honor. As the owner and director of Balance Dance Studios, Miss Paula brings over 40 years of dance experience to her studio, fostering a love for movement in each student.

Dance has been interwoven into Paula’s life since her earliest years. Her journey began at her aunt’s dance studio, where she immersed herself in the rhythms of tap and the energy of jazz. At 13, a classical ballet teacher arrived in town, sparking a lifelong passion for ballet. Throughout her career, Paula has rigorously trained in classical ballet, tap, modern, and clogging, with a particular focus and expertise in jazz dance.

Paula’s formal education further solidified her dance foundation. She graduated from Snow College with a major in dance, where she discovered a deep appreciation for modern dance. Her leadership skills shone as president of the performing dance company, Orchesis, and she was recognized for her talent as both a soloist and student choreographer. Continuing her academic pursuits, Paula earned a BS in Exercise and Sport Science with a minor in Health from the University of Utah, where she also proudly performed as a member of the Crimson Line Dance Team. She is also a certified high school teacher, bringing a wealth of educational knowledge to her dance instruction.

Miss Paula’s commitment to excellence extends to specialized certifications. She is a certified Master Teacher Level 1 in the Leap ‘N Learn Early Childhood Dance Program, a testament to her expertise in nurturing young dancers. With over two decades of experience in private studio settings and three years in public education—where she also coached the Bingham High School Minerettes—Paula’s teaching background is extensive and varied. Furthermore, she is a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), with additional certifications in Kundalini Yoga (100 hours) and Kids Yoga (18 hours), enriching her understanding of movement and body awareness.

Choreography is another of Paula’s great loves, and she feels incredibly fortunate to pursue her passions daily at Balance Dance Studios. After 18 years of teaching dance from her home studio, Miss Paula is thrilled to welcome students to a brand-new, dedicated space outside of her home. This beautiful new studio is a dream realized, allowing Paula to give back to the community that has supported her unwavering dedication to dance education over the years.

Beyond the studio, Paula finds joy in the natural world. She cherishes hiking amidst red rocks and majestic mountains, relaxing on serene beaches with her husband, and finding peace through meditation. For Paula, time spent with family at Lake Powell is her idea of paradise. Her genuine love for people and her desire to share the happiness found through movement are at the heart of Balance Dance Studios.

Paula and her husband, Casey, have been residents of Alpine for twenty-five years and are the proud parents of four children. They are deeply rooted in their community, and Balance Dance Studios reflects their commitment to enriching the lives of local families through dance.
