The American Dance Festival (ADF) and the NC Dance Festival (NCDF) are thrilled to present a collaborative showcase of exceptional dance artistry from across North Carolina. This special event will take place on Wednesday, June 19th, with performances at 7:00pm and 9:00pm at the R.J. Reynolds Industries Theater. Tickets are priced at $15.

This co-presentation features four compelling dance works, carefully selected from the NCDF’s annual statewide tour. A distinguished panel of nationally acclaimed choreographers, including Camille A. Brown, David Dorfman, and Faye Driscoll, made the selections from outstanding performances showcased on the tour over the past decade. This event marks the American Dance Festival main stage debuts for John Gamble Dance Theater, Natalie Marrone and The Dance Cure, Cara Hagan, and Lindsey Kelley and Mindy Upin, highlighting the rich talent thriving within the state.

John Gamble Dance Theater will present Changeant d’Habit de Sexe, a captivating piece set to cabaret music that delves into the enigmatic world of film noir and cross-dressing culture. Natalie Marrone and The Dance Cure will perform REVOLT, an energetic work inspired by the personal narratives of Italian Americans and their folk healing practices. REVOLT powerfully blends traditional music and imagery with contemporary dance to share the stories of these historical healers. Cara Hagan’s Words Apart (2009), created in collaboration with The Storyline Project of Winston-Salem, is a poignant oral history project. Through dance and narration by six women, Words Apart explores profound themes of equality, grief, love, and enduring friendship. Finally, Mindy Upin and Lindsey Kelley will present A Tribute and Reflection of the Relationship (2010), set to the iconic music of Queen. This piece beautifully balances delicate gestures and dynamic movements to explore both the challenges and humorous aspects of relationships.

Attendees are advised to arrive promptly as late seating restrictions may be implemented. This unique collaboration between the American Dance Festival and NC Dance Festival promises an evening of dynamic and thought-provoking dance performances, celebrating the depth and diversity of North Carolina’s dance community.
