Shania Twain brought the house down at the 2019 American Music Awards, closing out the night with an epic medley of her chart-topping hits. The crowd was on their feet, singing and dancing along, but perhaps no one was having more of a blast than Post Malone.
The rapper and singer, known for his own mega-hits, was right up front for Twain’s performance, and luckily for us, the cameras were rolling. Post Malone was caught on video living his best life, completely immersed in Shania Twain’s catalog of 90s country anthems. An audience member also captured his enthusiastic display, proving that Post Malone is all of us when a Shania classic comes on.
His lip-syncing to “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” was particularly noteworthy, a truly committed performance in itself. And let’s be real, it perfectly mirrors how we all feel and hope we look when that iconic song plays. Bonus points are definitely in order for Post Malone managing to keep his drink steady while rocking out with such fervor.
This public display of fandom isn’t out of the blue. Post Malone has previously expressed his admiration for Shania Twain. During a late-night appearance with Jimmy Fallon earlier in the year, he confessed to listening to a lot of Twain’s music to get pumped up before his own concerts.
Twain’s AMAs performance wasn’t just “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, of course. Her medley also included timeless favorites like “You’re Still the One” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Adding a modern twist, she even kicked off her performance with a short acoustic medley of recent hits, including a nod to Post Malone himself with a snippet of “Rockstar.”
This American Music Awards appearance marked Shania Twain’s return to the AMAs stage after 16 years. Fans wanting more Shania Twain can catch her in Las Vegas in 2020 for her new residency, Let’s Go! The Las Vegas Residency, at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, starting December 6th for a two-year run.
