This guide provides all the essential details for the Class of 2026 to ensure they are fully prepared for their Ring Dance.
Dates and Times
The Ring Dance for the Class of 2026 will be held over two nights: March 28th and 29th. Students who have purchased their class rings can choose to attend either the first or second night. It’s important to note that you must select only one night to attend as tickets are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets: Your Entry to the Ring Dance
Tickets are exclusively available to Class of 2026 students who have purchased their Virginia Tech class ring. These tickets are complimentary for ring buyers as a part of this special tradition. Tickets are mandatory for admission to the Ring Dance, regardless of whether you attend the Friday or Saturday event.
How to Reserve Your Tickets
Ticket reservation links will be emailed to eligible ring purchasers in early March of their junior year. Keep an eye on your email inbox for this important communication. It is crucial to reserve your tickets promptly once the link becomes available due to the limited number of tickets. Number of Tickets Per Ring Purchaser
Each ring purchaser is entitled to reserve up to two tickets. This allows ring recipients to bring a guest to share in this special occasion. Please note that only one set of two tickets will be issued per ring purchase. Advance ticket reservation is essential as tickets cannot be obtained at the door.

Guest Tickets for Non-Ring Purchasers
Guests who are not Virginia Tech junior or senior ring buyers, or even those attending from different schools, are welcome to attend the Ring Dance. The primary requirement is that the Virginia Tech junior reserving and picking up the tickets is the one facilitating the guest’s attendance.
For those who did not purchase a class ring but wish to attend, a limited number of guest tickets may become available for purchase at $25 each. Keep an eye on the HokieSports ticket website for updates on guest ticket availability.
Ticket Pickup Information
Ring purchaser tickets can be collected from the Williamsburg Room in Squires Student Center between March 24th and 28th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Make sure to pick up your tickets during these designated times.
Individuals who purchased guest tickets will receive mobile tickets via email. It is highly recommended to download these mobile tickets to your Apple or Android wallet prior to the event for a smoother and faster check-in process on the night of the dance.
Ticket Exchange and Dance Night Procedures
On the night of the Ring Dance, your tickets will be scanned upon entry. In exchange for your ticket, you will receive a wristband for access to the dance and the traditional class color ribbons for the ring ceremony. Don’t forget to bring your Hokie Passport, as it will be swiped at the ballroom entrance for verification.

The Ribbon Tradition of Ring Dance
A cherished tradition since the inaugural Ring Dance in 1934, each couple attending the dance receives a set of ribbons in the Virginia Tech class colors upon arrival. During the dance, one person in the couple wears the date’s ring on their wrist tied with the darker colored ribbon, while the other wears the ring with the lighter colored ribbon. These ribbons are beautifully imprinted with the Ring Dance theme and the class year, serving as a memento of this special occasion.
Ring Delivery for the Class of 2026
For students who ordered their Class of 2026 rings before January 24th, Ring Delivery is scheduled from Tuesday, March 25th to Friday, March 28th, in the Squires Williamsburg Room, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day. Remember to bring your Hokie Passport for ring pickup.
If there is an outstanding balance on your ring order, please contact Balfour at 800-996-8636, extension 2514, to settle the payment before attempting to pick up your ring. Payment must be finalized before the ring can be released. Special Virginia Tech ring boxes will be available for purchase at delivery for $15 (cash only).
Dress Code: What to Wear to Ring Dance
Ring Dance is a formal event, calling for elegant attire. For Friday night attendees, cadets traditionally wear the white paletot uniform with maroon senior sashes. While white dresses are a time-honored tradition for the ring figure night, you’ll find a beautiful array of dress colors gracing the dance floor. Choose attire that makes you feel confident and celebratory for this formal occasion.
