Last Tuesday in downtown San Francisco was anything but ordinary! Passersby may have been surprised to see a giant banana grooving on the sidewalk. That banana was me, your very own Erin from The FruitGuys, spreading smiles and handing out 500 free bananas with my amazing colleagues, Nicole and Fabian. It was our spontaneous “Banana Dance” event, and it was the perfect way to brighten up a weekday morning.
Spreading Joy, One Banana Dance Move at a Time
I’ll admit, stepping out in a banana suit might seem unconventional, especially when there’s a to-do list a mile long. But trust me, the moment I started our little “banana dance” and began offering bananas, any hint of guilt vanished. The energy was infectious. It quickly became less about handing out fruit and more about sparking joy and connection with people.
You might think a banana suit is an instant smile generator, but capturing the attention of busy city dwellers, many lost in their headphones, is a fun challenge. Luckily, the bright yellow banana suit acted like a beacon, drawing eyes and breaking through the commuter bubble. The real magic happened when those glances turned into smiles.

Our impromptu “banana dance” in San Francisco was a perfect example of this philosophy in action. Being the “Chief Banana” for the morning and sharing smiles with strangers was incredibly rewarding and truly made my day.
