1. What is Abby Lee Miller Doing Now?

Abby Lee Miller, the controversial dance coach and studio owner, has had a tumultuous journey since Dance Moms. She has faced legal issues, health challenges, and professional transitions. Despite these hurdles, she remains a prominent figure in the dance community.

Abby Lee Miller’s journey post-Dance Moms has been marked by significant personal and professional challenges. After the show’s initial success, Miller faced serious legal troubles in October 2015 when a federal grand jury indicted her on bankruptcy fraud charges. She was accused of making false claims about her income and hiding over $755,000 in earnings from Dance Moms-related deals, masterclasses, and merchandise. Initially pleading not guilty, she later changed her plea to guilty in June 2016 and was sentenced to 366 days in federal prison and two years of supervised release. Miller reported to prison in July 2017 and was released to a halfway house in March 2018 after serving eight months.

Shortly after her release, Miller faced a severe health crisis. She was hospitalized for symptoms related to a thyroid condition, which led to a diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She underwent emergency spinal surgery and months of intensive treatment. By May 2019, Miller announced she was cancer-free. She began the arduous process of regaining her mobility and, by September 2019, took her first steps in public since being confined to a wheelchair in April 2018.

In January 2023, Miller sold the Dance Moms studio for $300,000. She emphasized that while she sold the property, she retained her name, brand, and life’s work. Despite not being invited to the Dance Moms reunion in May 2024, Miller remains in contact with some of her former students, including JoJo Siwa, with whom she speaks weekly. In May 2024, Miller reflected on her Dance Moms experience, acknowledging that she was too harsh on the kids who didn’t have the talent during an interview with ABC News’ Juju Chang. She stated that her intention was to push them to be their best, not to hurt their feelings.

Miller was invited to make a cameo on the Dance Moms reboot, but she declined, though she sent a congratulatory text to the new coach, Gloria “Glo” Hampton. Miller’s journey showcases her resilience in the face of adversity and her continued influence in the dance world, despite the controversies and personal challenges she has encountered.
