Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rudy Romero brings nearly two decades of dance teaching experience to Oly Dance. His dedication lies in providing meticulously crafted instruction, ensuring every student grasps the core concepts of dance. Rudy’s approach emphasizes patience and personalized attention, as he is always willing to invest extra time to help students connect with the material. Beyond the dance floor, Rudy is also involved in producing an internet radio show and organizing dance events, showcasing his commitment to the broader arts and entertainment scene. Currently, he is expanding his skillset by studying computer programming at the Evergreen State College. David Portugal
David Portugal is the musical heart of Oly Dance. Hailing from Tumwater, Washington, David is a seasoned musician, producer, and DJ with over 20 years of experience in sound development. His deep passion for music permeates every aspect of his work, from his personal studio creations to his captivating DJ sets. David’s music selections are deeply emotive and thoughtfully curated, reflecting his personal connection to sound and his desire to share that love with others. His sets are known for blending a wide spectrum of musical genres, appealing to any true music enthusiast and creating an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere for dance.
Sunny Paguirigan
Dance has been a transformative force in Sunny Paguirigan’s life since the age of 12. However, his true dance journey began at 16 when he discovered the world of partner dancing. In 2017, Sunny’s passion and vision led him to team up with David Accurso, and together they shaped OlyDance into the thriving community it is today. Sunny’s commitment extends beyond his own dance practice; he is deeply invested in sharing the joy of dance within his local Olympia scene. Whether teaching classes or supporting fellow instructors, Sunny is a driving force in the Oly Dance community. His dance repertoire is broad, encompassing styles from the energetic rhythms of Swing to the sensual movements of Salsa, Bachata, Brazilian Zouk Lambada, Argentine Tango, and more, demonstrating his eagerness to share the diverse tapestry of dance with everyone.
David Accurso
David Accurso embodies a serious dedication to both music and dance. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Evergreen State College, focusing his studies on Dance and Comparative Movement, reflecting his academic approach to the art form. David’s interdisciplinary approach is evident in his diverse dance background, which includes Lindy Hop, ECS, Balboa, Blues, Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, Modern Jazz, Odissi (Indian Classical), and Ballet. His movement expertise also extends to swimming and musicianship, highlighting a holistic understanding of body movement and rhythm. David has been sharing his passion through teaching classes, leading workshops, and giving private lessons since 2007, with teaching experience across the US and internationally. His classes are known for being fun, social, and empowering, fostering growth for the mind, body, and partnership, making his love for dance truly contagious within the Oly Dance community.
