Participating in the Inspire National Dance Competition promises an exciting and rewarding experience for dancers, teachers, and studio directors alike. To ensure a smooth, fair, and enjoyable event for everyone, it’s crucial to understand and adhere to the competition’s rules and regulations. This guide outlines the key policies of the Inspire National Dance Competition, covering everything from prop handling to conduct expectations. Familiarizing yourself with these guidelines will help you and your team prepare effectively and make the most of your competition experience.
Prop Regulations for Inspire National Dance Competition
Efficient stage setup and transitions are vital for a seamless competition flow. Therefore, each studio is allotted a strict one-minute timeframe for prop placement and removal. This must be executed by designated studio representatives. Should your prop setup anticipate exceeding this one-minute limit, it is imperative to consult with the backstage manager in advance. Failure to adhere to the time limit may result in point deductions or additional fees. For larger productions requiring more elaborate setups, the backstage manager will assess the needs and allocate additional time accordingly.
To maintain the integrity and safety of the dance surface, the use of liquids, gels, glitter, or any substances that could affect the stage is strictly prohibited. Similarly, for safety and audience consideration, no items may be thrown or launched from the stage into the audience area. All prop construction must be completed offstage; backstage prop assembly is not permitted unless coordinated with the Stage Manager who may provide accommodation. For safety reasons, performers are prohibited from standing on props exceeding 6’6” in height. Furthermore, please note that props taller than 10’6” cannot be guaranteed to fit on every stage. Finally, Inspire National Dance Competition does not provide power sources for props and is not responsible for any props left unattended or overnight at the venue.
Dressing Room Guidelines at Inspire National Dance Competition
To ensure organization and respect for all participants, dressing rooms will be assigned to each studio. It is expected that all studio representatives, parents, dancers, and personal belongings remain within the confines of your assigned dressing room space. Inspire National Dance Competition cannot assume responsibility for items left in dressing rooms, either during or after the event. To maintain privacy, men are not permitted in the designated female dressing rooms. Separate dressing areas will be provided for male dancers and instructors. We kindly request that studio owners or designated representatives conduct a thorough check of their assigned dressing rooms at the conclusion of each day to ensure the space is tidy, orderly, and all personal items have been collected. This collaborative effort helps maintain a pleasant environment for everyone at the Inspire National Dance Competition.
Studio Hospitality Suite & Reserved Seating for Studio Directors and Teachers
Inspire National Dance Competition values the dedication of studio directors and teachers. To show our appreciation, we provide a Studio Hospitality Suite at each event. This dedicated space offers a tranquil environment for directors and teachers to relax, enjoy refreshments, and network with peers. Additionally, to ensure optimal viewing and convenience, 2-3 rows at the front of the auditorium are reserved exclusively for studio directors and teachers. This reserved seating arrangement allows studio leaders to comfortably watch their students perform and fully engage with the Inspire National Dance Competition experience.
Maintaining a Family-Friendly Environment at the Dance Competition
Inspire National Dance Competition is committed to providing a family-friendly atmosphere for dancers of all ages. Therefore, sexually explicit dance routines, costumes, or music are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. Any performance deemed to contain inappropriate content or profanity, as determined by Inspire Management, will incur a minimum 5-point penalty. If a routine addresses a sensitive subject matter that may not be suitable for all audiences, it is crucial to inform the Event Director beforehand to ensure appropriate caution and consideration are taken. Our priority is to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment where all participants and families feel comfortable and valued at the Inspire National Dance Competition.
Routine Entry Policy for Inspire National Dance Competition
To encourage broad participation and showcase the diverse talents within dance studios, there is no limit to the number of routines a studio may enter into the Inspire National Dance Competition. This open entry policy allows studios to present a wide spectrum of their choreography and student achievements. It is important to note that all routines performed at the Inspire National Dance Competition will be adjudicated, providing valuable feedback and recognition for all participants, regardless of the number of entries per studio.
Re-Performance Guidelines at the Dance Competition
The opportunity for re-performance at the Inspire National Dance Competition is reserved for specific circumstances. Re-performances will only be granted in cases of technical difficulties directly attributable to INSPIRE. This ensures fairness and addresses situations where technical issues may have negatively impacted a performance. If a re-performance is permitted, it will be for adjudication purposes only. For any questions or concerns regarding re-performance eligibility during the competition, please consult with the backstage manager who will provide guidance and information based on the specific circumstances.
Video & Photography Policy During Performances
To protect the privacy of performers and maintain the integrity of the judging process, video recording of any kind is strictly prohibited during performances at the Inspire National Dance Competition. The use of any type of video camera or recording device during competition routines will result in penalties. Violation of this policy may lead to point deductions, disqualification of the routine in question, or even disqualification of the entire studio. We urge studio directors and teachers to clearly communicate this rule to parents and attendees to prevent any misunderstandings or conflicts. Flash photography and video recording are permitted during the awards ceremony, allowing families to capture these celebratory moments.
