Pack Smart for Your Dancing Moose Adventure: Essential Items to Bring

To fully enjoy your yurt experience, remember to bring a few key items. Comfortable bedding or a sleeping bag and pillows are essential for restful nights. Pack your favorite foods and plenty of water, as well as washcloths and garbage bags to maintain the yurt’s pristine condition. We embrace a pack-in, pack-out ethos, a cherished tradition of leaving our cabins even better than we found them, both inside and out. Before departing, please meticulously ensure you have gathered all your belongings and food items, including often-overlooked items like spices, condiments, and coffee. A Yonder Yurt dumpster is available at our office near the park entrance for trash disposal. Please note that littering around the yurt or within the State Forest State Park will result in fines, so let’s keep this natural paradise beautiful for everyone.

Embracing the Unplugged Experience: What to Expect (And What’s Not Included)

The Dancing Moose Yurt offers a unique opportunity to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with nature. Please be aware that there are no showers or running water facilities at this location. Guests should plan to bring an adequate supply of potable water for drinking and cooking. Alternatively, during warmer months, water can be sourced from fill-up stations near North Michigan Reservoir. In winter, melting snow provides a water source, but remember to bring your own filtration systems to ensure water purity. Embrace the digital detox as there is no Wi-Fi and no cell service available at the yurt. While this offers a fantastic chance to truly unplug and immerse yourself in the outdoors, we strongly recommend bringing a satellite phone, two-way radio, or Personal Locator Beacon for emergency situations, ensuring peace of mind during your mountain escape.
