Erica Courtemanche: Owner & Artistic Director – Reviving the Spirit of Dance

Erica Courtemanche, the owner and artistic director of Revive Dance Studio, embodies the spirit of revive dance through her lifelong dedication and vision. From Rhode Island, Erica’s dance journey began at the age of three, blossoming into a profound passion that led her to pursue a degree in Small Business Entrepreneurship with a minor in Dance Pedagogy from Plymouth State University. Her ambition was always to create her own dance haven, and Revive Dance is the realization of that dream.

During her university years, Erica was deeply involved in the Contemporary Dance Ensemble and led the university’s dance team as both captain and treasurer. These roles provided her with invaluable experiences working with renowned choreographers and performing their challenging pieces, honing her skills and artistry. With over eight years of teaching experience, Erica has cultivated a versatile approach, effectively guiding dancers across all age groups and skill spectra. Her performance background extends throughout New England with Alchemy Movement, and she continually enriches her teaching methods by participating in prestigious events like the NYC Dance Teacher Summit and the Rhee Gold Dance Teacher Life Conference. Erica is also an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor and engages with the Dance Studio Owner’s Association Inner Circle Program, demonstrating her commitment to excellence and innovation in dance education.

Erica’s teaching philosophy centers on nurturing holistic growth in her students, both as dancers and individuals. She champions dance as a potent medium for self-expression and strives to empower each student to discover and amplify their unique voice through movement. Entering her eighth year of teaching and third as the owner of Revive Dance Studio, Erica is thrilled to embark on Season 3, continuing to revive dance for a new generation.

Stephanie Kane: Teacher – Reviving Joy in Dance Education

Stephanie Kane brings a unique blend of educational expertise and dance passion to revive dance for her students. A graduate of Bridgewater State University with degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology, Stephanie furthered her academic qualifications with a M.Ed in Special Education in May 2023. Her time at BSU was also enriched by her participation in the Dance Company, where she showcased her talents in student-choreographed performances and expanded her dance knowledge through Master Classes in tap, jazz, and contemporary styles.

Stephanie’s journey into dance instruction began in high school when she was selected to choreograph Middleboro High School’s variety show. This early success paved the way for her role as a private tap teacher and lead choreographer for The Burt Wood School of Performing Art’s acclaimed productions, including “Scrooge Jr.”, “Matilda Jr.”, “Frozen Jr.”, and a virtual Broadway-themed show. She also served as assistant choreographer alongside LA-based choreographer, Lucy Record, for “Aladdin Jr.” and “Godspell Jr.”, and is currently contributing to their production of “Mean Girls”. Stephanie has also collaborated with Erica Courtemanche in planning and teaching April Vacation Camps and Summer Camps, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to revive dance through various educational avenues.

Entering her fourth year of studio teaching, Stephanie is excited to be part of Revive Dance Studio while also working as a first-grade teacher. Her passion lies in integrating her deep understanding of child development and education with her love for dance, creating a nurturing and effective learning environment.

Rachel Kane: Teacher & Digital Imaging & Design Coordinator – Reviving Creativity Through Dance and Design

Rachel Kane, a dynamic member of Revive Dance, not only teaches dance but also revives dance’s visual presence as the Digital Imaging and Design Coordinator. Currently studying Health Sciences and Occupational Therapy at Bridgewater State University, Rachel’s life has revolved around dance studios. She has trained and competed extensively in diverse styles, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, and acro. She continues her active involvement in dance as a member of BSU’s dance company.

Rachel’s teaching experience began as a teacher’s assistant, working with preschool to elementary-level students. She has significant experience assisting Acrobatic Arts certified teachers, fostering her passion for safe and effective Acro training. Rachel’s journey with Revive Dance started in its first season as an assistant teacher. Her role expanded in 2023 to lead teacher and Digital Imaging and Design Coordinator. In this capacity, she channels her creativity to design recital t-shirts, programs, merchandise, and engaging social media content, helping to revive dance’s appeal to a wider audience. Rachel is enthusiastic about her second year as a teacher and coordinator, blending her love for dance with her design skills to enrich the studio.

Lauren Gilbert: Teacher – Reviving the Next Generation of Dancers

Lauren Gilbert, a vibrant teacher at Revive Dance, is dedicated to revive dance for the next generation. Currently pursuing a Marketing degree with a Dance minor at Bridgewater State University, Lauren is deeply involved in the BSU dance community. She serves as treasurer of the BSU Dance Company, is a member of the dance team, and contributes as a choreographer for the Pops showcase. Her participation extends to dance department productions, showcasing her commitment and talent.

With ten years of dance experience in various styles at both recreational and competitive levels, Lauren brings a well-rounded perspective to her teaching. This marks her third year with Revive Dance and second as an instructor. Lauren is passionate about sharing her love for dance with her students and is eagerly anticipating the upcoming season where she can continue to revive dance in young dancers.

Cathryn Schofield: Teacher – Reviving Artistry and Technique in Dance

Cathryn Schofield, a teacher at Revive Dance, expertly revives dance by emphasizing both artistic expression and technical precision. A graduate of Hope College with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and a minor in Art History, Cathryn’s dance journey started at age four. She has explored numerous styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, and pointe, and was an active member of her studio’s competition team. Cathryn also gained early teaching experience as an assistant dance instructor in ballet, tap, and jazz during high school.

Continuing her dance pursuits in college, Cathryn performed in student and faculty-choreographed showcases, including the annual faculty showcase “Dance 43.” She studied a wide array of dance styles, from classical ballet and pointe to modern and improvisation. Complementing her art major, she studied elementary and secondary education and has worked in diverse educational settings, including public and private schools, and as a co-director of an art-themed after-school camp for children. Cathryn’s approach to teaching is rooted in creating a positive and supportive environment that fosters both technical skill and artistic exploration. She is passionate about making art accessible to all ages and nurturing the inherent creativity within each student, believing that dance is for everyone and enthusiastically inviting students to join her classes to revive dance in their lives.

Katie Cameron: Assistant Teacher – Supporting the Revival of Dance Passion

Katie Cameron, an assistant teacher at Revive Dance, plays a crucial role in revive dance by supporting a variety of classes and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Currently pursuing a dual degree in psychology and dance with a nutrition minor at Bridgewater State University, Katie has a rich dance background. She has danced recreationally for 16 years and competitively for 3 years at her home studio. Katie continues her dance journey at Bridgewater State with the BSU Dance Company and as a member of the dance department.

Katie joined Revive Dance in Season 2 and has been an invaluable asset, assisting in numerous classes and contributing to the vibrant energy of the studio. Her passion for dance and her dedication to supporting students make her an integral part of the Revive Dance team, helping to revive dance for every student she assists.
